I Try To Cook

This petit red lentil soup is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten... when Natalie makes it. When I make it, it's just not the same. It's still delicious - those tiny lentils have a lovely flavor, and all the chicken stock and onion and garlic add a little something nice - but something is missing and I can't figure out what it is. I would not win Iron Chef with this soup. Iron Chef Chen Kenichi would stomp all over me in a petit red lentil battle. I will not let this soup get the best of me!
Check back for soup updates in the future.

okay-I lived with you for a year and the only thing i ever saw you cook was Tomatoe soup-what gives? What are you doing? I must say, you are really good at opening a Don Pablo's and Bennigan's carry out bag with egual verve.

Hang on, now, I wouldn't leave out an ingredient unless an actual prize was involved. It looks right in the picture... so who knows what happened. I'll check the recipe again when I get home...

... Here's the weird thing, if you think my soup is good, you should taste my mom's!! Of course, if cooking ability is getting diluted with each generation, Amanda, don't ever let your neices and nephews cook you soup, it'll be pure KACK!!!

aka Amanda's Brother's Fiance-- it's time to give her a name!

This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

All of you who think I can't cook... you're right. I can't. You have to start somewhere, though, and soup is pretty safe. Notice I'm not blogging about my corn chowder - to say it was a disaster would be an exaggeration, but it was bland as bland can be. Bleh.

When we made Natalie's soup, it wasn't quite the same either. Hmmmmm....but then few things are as good as the original. Hey, Pat, soup talk and alcohol, both make you warm and fuzzy.

And yet there's never any in your house when I arrive there. (alcohol, not soup talk.)
