Sign Your Name Across My Baby's Face

And I'm back from my mini-vacay. Best thing: seeing all my pals. Worst thing: allergies to pals' cat. Most unexpected thing: seeing Sara Goodell in Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo.

So, checks. I don't like festive checks. I think checks (checques?) should look like they're from a financial institution: solid, plain, minimal fuss and frills. I have the plainest checks my bank offers, and they still are an assortment of colors - pink, lavendar and yellow. This annoys me, but I really don't like anything with pandas, or the Statue of Liberty, or classic cars, or CARTOON CHARACTERS, or Anne Geddes babies. I think money is a serious matter. It doesn't need to be lightened up by Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.

Plus, I know I'm the only person under 60 who still writes checks. So why are there so many check variations?

But I digress. Some printed checks are better than others: do they feature line drawings of redwood trees? OK. Do they have a mountain, or a field of wheat? Not great, but OK. But once you cross that line into faux fur, or yoga positions, or the X-Men, you've gone too far.

And yet - I must have the dogs playing poker checks. I love them.

printed checks - D

I still write checks too. I do like the fancy ones though. We've got toy story right now.

I have garfield checks. they look like formal checks but they have a little icon of garfield characters up by our name and addy.
I used to have the Anne Geddes checks.

The dogs are a bit much.

We had the faux fur and those were just annoying after the first 4 checks were written. I hated those.

Plain checks are boring, IMO. But you're entitled to your opinion... you just put it comedically. LOL

I LOVE the faux fur checks! But I can't get Andy to agree to use them. :(

I agree with Pat that I would not pay extra for fancy checks...but as long as something cheerful costs the same as plain ones, I'm all for it. Most of my checks go to write ridiculously large amounts of money over for child care, so anything I can do to make that process happier is appreciated!

Shannon didn't mention the run-in with Sara Goodell (I assume Shan was there also?)...how is she?

I got the pink ribbon checks-- so they're pretty and socially relavent. Speaking of which, Amanda, are the Bodacious Ta-tas shirts going to be long sleeved? My favorite shirt is the long sleeve breat cancer walk from El Paso shirt that I "borrowed" permanently from Pat... am I in luck again? Either way, I'd like one. How can I get one?

Oh also, the designer checks are cheaper for me than the plain checks from my bank . . . so why not??

Yes Erin, I was there also, which pretty well shocked Sara Goodell. Something about not seeing her in 14 years...

Amanda, I'm still glad you approve of my Sierra Club redwood tree recycled checks, since Mark doesn't like them.
