Chipotle

Move over, Qdoba! There's a new burrito in town. Chipotle Mexican Grill (or as I like to call it, Chipotle Burrito) is just like Qdoba, only ridiculously good. As you may know, I love Mexican food. Bad Mexican food is better than no Mexican food, and I crave it all the time (I blame my upbringing in southwest Texas). Nate and I, on our friend's recommendation, ate at Chipotle Burrito on Saturday, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the carnitas burrito - they actually serve pork at this chain! - and for some reason, the lady making my burrito gave me the beef barbacoa, but I am so glad she did, because it was DELICIOUS. And the spicy salsa was really spicy - everything had flavor. The only really annoying thing was that people in line behind us cut into the seating area and put down coats, so we ended up sitting in "someone's seat" and they were annoyed. Well, that's what you get for being a snoot. Wait your turn in line, bitches.

The secret to that great taste is Big Mac sauce, Mandy. Chipotle's owned by Ronald himself (that said, it's my pa's favorite cheapy place).

I've always wanted to eat at Chipotle. I've seen it talked about lots of places and shows on FoodTV.
I'm so glad you gave it a good rating... now, where to find one where I live??

Yeah, this is a national chain, all over the place in chi-town (and DC when I lived there). And I used to love it, but realized it is so salty that a couple of hours later I need massive amounts of water in me.

dear anonymous,

chipotle's food was delcious before mcdonald's bought a share of chipotle and it's remaind delicious through the ownership and even AFTER (yes, after) the full divestment of chipotle. last spring chipotle had an ipo and in october mcdonald's sold their remaining shares.

not to put too fine a point on it, but the Chipotle board of directors includes such rockstars as:

John S. Charlesworth has served as a director of Chipotle since 1999... Before retiring in 2000, Mr. Charlesworth worked for McDonald's for 26 years, most recently as president of its midwestern division from July 1997 to December 2000...

Patrick J. Flynn has served as a director of Chipotle since 1998. He has been retired since January 2, 2001. Prior to retiring in 2001, Mr. Flynn spent 39 years at McDonald's where he held a variety of executive and management positions, most recently as Executive Vice President responsible for strategic planning and acquisitions.

(I didn't bother to check out the other 5 members... 30% is enough to convince me).

ps burrito eater are you a chipotle marketing schlub?
