Miss America 2006 is Miss Oklahoma Jennifer Berry. Yay for Oklahoma, but nay to Jennifer - doesn't she look all droopy-eyed and wonky in this picture? Not like "Oh my gosh, I never expected this and I'm about to cry;" more like "Pass the bong!" Maybe she needs a new plastic surgeon.

Mandy, can you give a brief version of the beauty pageant defense? I saw a few of the intros for Miss America and most of them scared me... some of them because of the temporary things they'd done for the show (makeup, hair, clothing), and some because of the more permanent things they may or may not have done for the show (said boobs, noses, etc.). I know you respect pageants and I respect you, so I want you to connect!
Well, Tim, from my very brief experience in the Miss America system, I learned first-hand that people judge you based on how you look, without knowing anything about you, and you come out a stronger person knowing who you truly are and realizing that the people who "judge" are not the people who matter. Does that mean that I don't judge people based on appearances anymore? Obviously not, but I understand how strong a person has to be just to endure a local pageant, much less a national stage. You have to be true to yourself. Also, even though people spend TONS of money to get the dresses and the coaches and the breasts, the Miss America system is still the largest organization in the world dedicated to giving scholarships to women. Finally, I got to wear a fur coat and ride in the back of an antique convertible in a parade, and not everyone can say that they've done that, and I was honored to do so.
Any other questions, you know who to ask.
love, Miss Lake Dardanelle 2000
I forgot to wathc this tonight. Damn it. Amanda forgot to metion that she is also qualified to judge Miss America pagents...but not on the national level.

From one pageant queen to another, I salute you, Miss Lake Dardanelle 2000. I forget that we're "cousins" that way. Remind me to show you the photos someday; they're hysterical.
Love, Little Miss Lake Dardanelle 1985
that would be a "cosmetic surgeon" not a plastic surgeon. Cosmetic surgeons do voluntary procedures. Plastic surgery is for reconstructive and necessary purposes.
Will you take a photo of yourself making the proper "I just won" face? Please!?
Yeah, I want to see the proper I just won face too!
Oh, I have some brilliant pictures, but no scanner - you'll just have to be patient.
my word - toelid - like the lid of a toe?
I like how it looks like her crown is being screwed into her head.
