Have you ever noticed that Leonardo DiCaprio is always wet in movies? Let's review:What's Eating Gilbert Grape - wet, bathtub; The Basketball Diaries - wet, rain; Titanic - wet, ocean; Romeo and Juliet - wet, rain and pool; The Beach - I'm assuming wet, ocean; The Aviator - wet, shower
There are many others, sure, but these are the ones I know for sure. If you can confirm or deny a wet Leo in any of his other movies, let me know.
So what's this all about? My theory is that his floppy hair looks good wet, and little drops of water glistening on his eyelashes only enhance his pretty eyes even more. Leo, we know you love the water, but stay dry or you'll catch cold.

ReplyDeleteI think he was dry in Catch Me if you Can. There was a scene where he was coming down with pnemonia, I'm not sure if he was wet or dry in that one.
ReplyDeleteI know that in Romeo and Juliet he's wet/there's water because that's the trademark of director Baz Luhrmann. If you look at his trilogy (Strictly Ballrom, Romeo and Juliet, and Moulin Rouge) all three movies have significant scenes with water (or so IMDB says). That help? :)

The Quick and the Dead with Gene Hackman and Sharon Stone. Leo is dry but he gets killed by his father (Hackman).
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I'm pretty sure he didn't die in Catch Me If You Can, because the real guy is still alive. But I could be wrong. Also, even though Howard Hughes did eventually die, I don't think they made it that far in the movie. Death theory shot down!

ReplyDeleteHe didn't die in "Marvin's Room." I don't remember him being especially wet, either. That's a wonderful, hidden little gem of a movie, too. You've got Leo, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Bobby DeNiro, and the late Hume Cronyn, all of whom get upstaged by Dan Hedaya.
